New radio station for Hamburg

HAMBURG ZWEI goes on air

Hamburg has a new radio station. HAMBURG ZWEI can be heard on radio frequency 95.0 MHz from 15 July 2014. With the slogan of “Mehr Musik – das Beste aus vier Jahrzehnten” [“More music – the best from four decades”], the station breathes new life into Hamburg’s radio scene.

Congenial, cosmopolitan and chilled out – this is how HAMBURG ZWEI presents itself to listeners in the greater Hamburg area. The editorial focus is on the “best music”, so the great possible variety from the past four decades. The focus for Hamburg is mainly on hits from the ’80s, blended with tunes from the ’70s and ’90s, and a smattering from the noughties. Hourly reports ensure listeners are kept up-to-date with the latest news from their city and the rest of the world.

On tour in the Hanseatic cityFor HAMBURG ZWEI’s launch, the radio station is touring the Hanseatic city with a mobile studio and actively seeking direct contact with its listeners. Presenters and promoters will be out and about in Hamburg aboard the mobile studio for almost four weeks: at street festivals, weekly markets, etc. Station listeners are also able to suggest for themselves which places and people the mobile studio should visit. “We want to be very close to our listeners,” explains Editor-in-Chief, Markus Steen. “We are very much looking forward to the exchange, excellent conversations and moving moments.”

Hamburg’s mayor came to the station launch for a live interview in the mobile studio. In discussion with HAMBURG ZWEI morning presenters, Julia Metternich and Fabian Kühne, he told listeners how he met his wife in the ’80s and that this was of course his fondest memory, as he is still with her to this day. He also had a music request: “Radio Ga Ga” by Queen.

With the light and manoeuvrable FUTURIA Boxx from MOST, all locations in the entire HAMBURG ZWEI broadcasting area can be reached extremely easily, and the mobile studio is able to go on air in the shortest of times.
